I’ve had slightly less TDF time this week as life got in the way. I tend to work most efficiently when my fibre prep/spinning is blocked in longer chunks of time so I can get into a rhythm, however this week I fitted in picking and spinning where I could, meaning I haven’t got through as much of my large boxes of zwartbles as I’d hoped, but progress has still been made. I managed to pick and spin the smaller box full of zwartbles, and the rest of the alpaca has been spun and plied. I’ve also washed the alpaca skeins and the zwartbles I’ve spun so far ready for measuring, which has cleared some floorspace and allowed me to put away some of my tools.
Going into the final week, I have two larger boxes of zwartbles left to pick and spin, alongside the angora goat. I’m making faster progress now I’m getting used to the country spinner and not trying to fill the bobbin quite so full (the skeins it makes at full capacity are a bit unweildy for winding and washing!), and I’ve got my wool picker set up at a better height so I’m not stooped over which is also making life easier. We’ll see if this gets me closer to ticking off my ambitious to-do list over the final seven days!
