Tour De Fleece 2024 – Week 1 Wrap-up

The first week of TDF has flown by and I haven’t got as much spinning done as I’d hoped. I had quite a few unexpected commitments, but did manage to spin for at least 1 hour per day, often continuing spinning after posting my daily update. Looking at my pictures for the week, I think I’ve still made good progress considering, and I’ve been enjoying doing the Sunday challenges (if you click the image of Day 2 it should take you to the video of my first challenge).

If you are also joining in with Tour de Fleece (whether part of a group or going it alone like me!) I’d love to hear how you’re getting on, let me know in the comments below! Until next week…

Happy Spinning!

For more information about my tour de fleece challenge my introductory blog post is here. I’m also posting my progress photos daily on my instagram.

  1. Oh that’s great you managed multiple books! You’ve been spinning more time each day than me but I’ve finished a blend and then spun 5 breed samples so far so I’m hoping I’ll finally finish this breed study I started 3.5 years ago.

    1. The challenge went better than I expected, although I did opt for notebooks as I couldn’t bear the thought of damaging any of my ‘proper’ books! Good luck with your breed study, I’m sure you’ll make good progress on it – a friend of mine is spinning up fibre from a sample box over TDF and has done much more than they thought in short bursts – we met up yesterday with our spindles and chatted! My version of a breed study is going to take a long time as I’m trying to tie each sample square into the project I make from the whole fleece to become a sort of visual catalogue, but it’s good fun seeing how the different fibres behave!

      1. A wise idea, I wouldn’t want to damage any real books either. I’ll have done 36 different breeds as part of the study and I have a few more dyed breeds I’ve done. So I feel I’m in a good place shopping for what I like now.
